CHAPTER 2, PAGE 1
(Transcript and visual captions below}

From the desk of: Ellen Fitzpatrick

    The greatest challenge in studying our condition, is observation. For instance, how we are created. Naturally this is rare and so mired in tradition as not to allow inquiry. I've only done so once, fifty years ago. A friend in Bribeaux allowed me to observe as she turned a young girl. After death, nothing but a slow moving, crying corpse... until the sun rose. I was amazed at the strange rapidity the disease overtook the dead flesh, claiming all for its own.--

In which Jack is transformed.

    --The disease being unnatural as we, was unpredictable. No point in questioning the girl as she was incoherent. Perhaps attributable to the disease overtaking the flesh of the mind as well.
      Alas, it is doubtful I will ever get the chance again. I only write this years later because Aubrey found it 'helpful' to feed my papers to the fireplace, as they 'smelled terribly.' Happily, paper and flame are as far as Father's technology has advanced.

  I've been waiting months to show you this page! I'm very excited for Chapter Two to unfold. I've added some sketches I did long ago for this page to the extras section. I drew this while sitting in a café, I wonder why no one comes up to talk to me? By the way, dead Jack there was inspired by a certain scene in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Teehee.

             TRANSCRIPT: This is the text of the comic, for purposes such as translation and internet searches.

MARK: Yes, that's him. That's Jack. What a pity.

MARK: He's just meat now.

MARK: Meat. Dead meat.
