Karl was ready to commence the interrogation-- okay, that was too harsh a word. An 'inquisition?' Ugh. Anyway, he had a set of questions he'd ask Jack to subtly nudge him towards the juicy stuff. The Grey Menace, CatCat, underground cabals of secret criminals, those weird-ass roommates... He tried a warm up question.
"Hey, so, you're friends with Darren and those kids, yeah, that's interesting. Say how about that Demetri Ionavic guy, right? He seems interesting too. What's his deal? Business stuff right, but like, what kind of business? You've known him for a long time, got some trivia? Like... What's that Dragomir Holdings thing? Word around town is that it's legit, but... you could tell me if you'd heard anything..."
"..."
Jack reached for the stereo and blasted Dr. PinkPink's most recent hit. And those club bangin' beats drove that neatly organized plan out of Karl's head. Oh well. As they travelled into the distant reaches of outer Harlan, Karl realized he didn't know where they were driving. Jack shouted over the thumping bass.
"It's a surprise."
A surprise trip to the bottom of the harbor? No way, Jack would've done that weeks ago if that were his goal. Besides, they weren't anywhere near the harbor and while forests were good places for hiding bodies-- Uhm. |
